i want to know are they relaible i bought mine and now i hear they are not reliable so im considering selling for a 2 stroke again and i want a honest opinion. The shop I got the cams from said all the 4 stroke high performance motors for bikes and quads are hand grenades waiting for someone to pull the pin. My Dad says he thinks I should sell it and get a 2 stroke. I don't have a job and have to pay my parents back for the quad and we just bought stage 1 Hot cams for it as the cam journals were worn. I have hardly got to ride it as it just stalled one day and we could only get it to start one time by pushing it. We checked for spark and fuel and put in a new plug but it still would not start. So we pulled it apart and the cam chain was very stiff and the guy at the shop said it was possible that it jumped time slightly. We had them check the head for tight valves and everything is fine with the head but they said the cam journals were worn and we needed a new cam chain so we also got the stage 1 hot cams but my dad says the shop said we should get it running and then get rid of it as they are too maintenance intensive for a kid without a job. My dad agrees he said he'll do what it takes to get it running but will not spend anymore money on it after that. _________________ 2004 YFZ450 with a 471 strocker kit 13.5:1 compression, stage 1 hotcams,110 octane,,durablue axle, lonestar swing arm,ac nerfbars, rath bumper,,wiesco timing chain, gytr kickstart, protaper bars, hinson's clutch, and a whit bors carbon pro 2 full race exhaust |

Hype. Is the shop Yamaha friendly or something else? I've had shops tell me crap before about Yamaha because they favor something else.
I've known a few guys to have the 450's and I've never known either to have any major issues. One of the guys has many upgraded performance parts and still no issues. It is the atv I want when the time comes. Only reason I haven't bought one yet is due to the fact I've sunk over 25 grand in my sled. lol Enjoy your ride, man.
